Parmalat Canada has launched Canada’s first yogurt to contain both probiotics and plant sterols, mixing gut health benefits with cholesterol management.

The product, marketed under the BioBest Plant Sterols probiotic yogurt brand, is said to provide 50 percent of the daily recommended amount of sterols per 100 grams, said the company.

“Whether it's preventing the onset or finding ways to lower it, managing cholesterol is no easy feat,” said Nash Lakha, president & CEO of Parmalat Canada. “It's exciting to have the ability to harness active ingredients found naturally in vegetables and fruits and incorporate them into other foods so that consumers can benefit in ways that weren't possible before."
