Montreal’s McGill University has said that it will host a second annual conference on global food security to take place from October 5 to 7.

This year’s conference will focus on “the impacts of global financial turmoil on food security”.

McGill University principal and vice-chancellor Dr Heather Munroe-Blum, who is due to co-chair the conference along with Marilyn Knox, president of Nestle Nutrition Canada, said that the university has established global food security as a priority subject area.

Last year’s conference attracted 425 attendees from 25 countries, the university said.
