Members of the American Association of Cereal Chemistry (AACC) International have elected Dr Boris Nemzer, of FutureCeuticals, as vice-chair of the association's newly developed Technical Methods Committee for Bioactive Compounds.

Nemzer is director of product development and quality assurance at FutureCeuticals and has been a member of AACC for two years.

In his new role, Nemzer will help organize the inter-laboratory collaborative study of bioactive compounds in grains and review methods for final approval. The AACC said it has identified an increased need in the industry for such analytical methods in this food category.

The association added that his role in the functional food industry was important as it wants to draw members from diverse academic, government and industry backgrounds.
