The Med diet, rich in cereals, fruits, nuts, legumes, whole grains, fish and olive oil, has been linked to longer life, less heart disease, and protection against some cancers. The diet's main nutritional components include beta-carotene, vitamin C, tocopherols, polyphenols, and essential minerals.
Oldways President K. Dun Gifford said: "Our Mediterranean Month program brings added focus and attention to Mediterranean ingredients, cooking, menus and lifestyles, making it easy for consumers to put delicious, healthy Mediterranean meals on their family's table.”
The program includes a Med diet recipe competition, a Mediterranean month calendar featuring a tip a day for following the Med diet, as well as menus and affordable recipes.
