A new initiative has been launched to highlight the role that organic farming can play in current health, environmental and hunger issues by changing the way food is grown.

The Organic Solution education campaign is a joint initiative between the Organic Center and Rodale Institute, which are both research organizations focused on the science of food and farming.

Steven Hoffman, of the Organic Center, said: "We are at a tipping point in history where we face several grave challenges, but at the same time have the means within our reach to effectively address these issues through the increased adoption and use of organic agriculture and production methods.”

The organizations cite their own studies which show that organic fruits and vegetables can be more nutritious, organic soils can perform better in periods of drought and flood and a bushel of organic corn harvested uses 30 percent less energy than conventional corn.
