The Rhode Island company yesterday issued the recall for a further 17,235 pounds (7,834 kg) of ready-to-eat salami. The announcement comes after the same company raised the alarm over more than 1 million pounds (454,500 kg) of Italian sausage products on 23 January.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) said last weeks its tests had suggested the outbreak was linked to the pepper coated salami. It is believed black pepper used in the coating could be the source if the contamination.
