Wells’ Dairy says that it has expanded a voluntary recall of a number of its ice cream brands across the US over fears they may have been contaminated with Salmonella from peanuts.

The US-based manufacturer says that a number of its branded ice cream including Blue Bunny and some private label products are now included in the recall that extends to goods with best used by dates prior to 2/4/2010.

The recall is related to an ongoing investigation of peanut products contaminated with Salmonella across the US that has been linked to a number of deaths and hospitalisations.
