A new online store has opened in order to offer a greater range of gluten-free products to people suffering from celiac disease and gluten intolerance, the company said.

The founder of The Gluten Free Superstore, Dr Tatiana DiDonato, said that whilst gluten-free products are slowly finding their way onto grocery shelves, the typical selection is limited to 50 items or less.

The online store, which offers over 4,000 products, “significantly increases the selection over typical grocery and health store offerings, and makes a gluten free lifestyle easier to maintain," she added.

While only 40,000 to 60,000 Americans are diagnosed as celiac, the federal government estimates that the true number of sufferers could be as many as 3m.
