The two-day meeting, held by the City of Milan in conjunction with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), will precede the World Summit on Food Security in Rome.
The forum is designed to allow companies involved in all aspects of the food chain to exchange views about the challenges and risks of a future food crisis, identify concrete solutions and explore areas of mutual collaboration.
Soaring food prices in 2007 and 2008 have exacerbated the world hunger problem, with latest figures indicating that over one billion people worldwide are not adequately nourished.
