Valley Meats recalled 96,000 pounds of beef products after an epidemiological study of illnesses suggested the firm’s meat to be a possible source.
The US Department of Agriculture has called it a ‘Class 1’ recall, which designates “a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
So far three other illnesses have been linked to the E. coli strain: A three-year-old girl, a 24-year-old man and a 71-year-old man.
