CEO of JK Sucralose Alex An tells FoodNavigator-USA.com why his company is so confident in the future market for sucralose that it has invested to expand production capacity to 4000 tonnes by 2020.

Last week, the company announced the expansion of sucralose capacity at its Jiangsu, China plant, and it says that 1000 tonnes of capacity will be added by 2013 – to take the total to 1200 tonnes before continuing expansion over the rest of the decade.

The United States is a particularly important market for sucralose, as it already consumes 60 percent of the world’s high intensity sweeteners. Although many might see it as a mature market, An said he envisages high market growth in both supply and demand that could lead to further cost reductions for manufacturers.
