Farmwise frozen veggie fries contain 30% vegetables and beans, and 70% potatoes, and have been flying off the shelves in conventional as well as natural channels, says co-founder and CEO Dave Peters, who caught up with FoodNavigator-USA at the 2016 Expo West show.

While all of the finalists in the NEXT Accelerator pitch slam at Expo West had the potential to make a big splash in trade, Boston-based Farmwise clinched the deal after Peters wowed the judges with his novel product, track record of success in conventional and natural stores, and scalability story.

Veggie fries have no direct competition and are made using a proprietary, patent-pending process, said Peters who is predicting revenues of $4m in 2016 vs $1.6m in 2015, but predicts that the brand could ultimately generate revenues of $100m.

"Consumers love French fries," said Peters. "But they want healthier alternatives."

The pitch slam is part of New Hope Network’s Natural Products Business School, a year-round education solution for entrepreneurs offering education for the small business owners in the natural space.
