Walmart offers 5% savings on Great For You products via new incentive scheme

Walmart has ramped up its commitment to healthy eating and raised the profile of its new ‘Great for You’ front-of-pack labels with the launch of a new initiative that will offer shoppers discounts on products bearing the icon.

From October 15, Walmart will offer members of the HumanaVitality scheme - a healthy lifestyle program for members of healthcare giant Humana - a 5% discount on foods and beverages featuring its Great For You icon.

Products featuring the Great For You icon, which debuted in February, must be below certain thresholds for fats and added sugars and include positive nutrients such as fiber and wholegrains. (Click here to see the criteria.)

The icon is available in the produce section at Walmart stores and will begin to appear on packaged Great Value and Marketside items this fall.

After accepting Humana Vitality's terms and conditions at HumanaVitality.com or Humana.com, and taking a HumanaVitality Health Assessment, members of the Vitality HealthyFood program will receive a Vitality HealthyFood card for 5% savings on items that qualify for the Great For You icon.

The savings will be loaded as credits to each member's card within five business days for use on their next trip.
