The food and beverage industry was a critical driver of jobs in August according to new figures released by The United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, adding 4,800 food manufacturing jobs while the manufacturing payroll overall decreased by 15,000 people.
A further 4,200 jobs were added in food and beverage stores, 28,300 in food service establishments and drinking places and 28,000 in accommodation and food services.
In total, food and beverage-related jobs accounted for around two thirds of the 96,000 jobs added to the US payroll overall in August.
