Check out who’s moving onwards and upwards in the latest FoodNavigator-USA round-up of movers and shakers in the food industry. We kick off our gallery of new hires in the New Year with changes at Georgia-based Flowers Foods, which is just about to get a whole lot bigger after snapping up a large part of the Hostess Brands empire. On May 22, current president Allen L. Shiver (pictured) will become president and CEO; while current CEO George Deese will become executive chairman. "This is a time of exciting opportunities for Flowers Foods, and the board and I are confident in Allen's continued leadership as our team integrates recent acquisitions and focuses on growing sales and earnings," said Deese. "My role as executive chairman is to ensure that our strategic direction is sound and that Flowers' culture—what defines our team as unique in our industry—remains strong so we can continue to build value for our shareholders." Flowers remains on the acquisition trail, added Shiver. "With pending acquisitions and market expansions currently underway, we expect to surpass our 2016 goal of reaching 75% of the U.S. population with our fresh baked foods three years ahead of schedule.” |
