Premium snacks and nut maker Diamond Foods has appointed David J. Colo (pictured) to the newly created position of executive VP, global operations and supply chain. Colo, who spent seven years withConAgra Foods in a variety of senior roles including manufacturing, operations and food ingredients general management, also spent 16 years with Nestle-Purina. In his new role, he will have responsibility for global manufacturing, procurement and supply chain and report to chief executive Brian J. Driscoll. Separately, Diamond Foods has also appointed William L. ‘Bill’ Tos, Jr. to its board following the departure of John J. Gilbert and Richard G. Wolford. Tos joins the board as a long-time Diamond walnut grower and former member of the Board of Diamond Walnut Growers, Inc., the cooperative that was the predecessor to Diamond Foods. He is also co-owner of Tos Farms, Inc., a diversified farming enterprise. "Bill brings over 30 years of farming expertise and extensive relationships within the walnut industry," said Driscoll. "Bill's knowledge and deep agricultural business experience will be invaluable at a time when Diamond is highly focused on rebuilding its position in the walnut industry."
