A leading global food manufacturer is looking for potential partners to pitch novel food ingredients with an anti-obesity effect, in order to create supplements or food additives that enable weight loss.
In a posting on the website NineSights, open innovation expert NineSigma says it is “representing a global food manufacturer” interested in using ingredients that promote the feeling of fullness/satiety, delay gastric emptying and/or boost basal metabolism.
Client is not interested in fat blockers
The client is not, however, interested in ingredients that inhibit the absorption of fats, or “approaches that promote the feeling of a full stomach, but do so by using physical operations such as the use of plant fiber”.
Additionally, any agents pitched must have been consumed as food materials and can be used as food products, says NineSigma, which is asking interested parties to respond by December 10.
Meanwhile, its effectiveness must have been verified “at least with animal tests”, and “preferably, what component in the substance is active is already identified”, while the “mechanism of the anti-obesity action can be presented with experimental data”.
It adds: ”The client anticipates proposals not only of new materials but also of known food materials whose anti-obesity effect has been recently identified as a new function.”
