New web-based tools are democratizing the concept testing process and enabling everyone from brand managers at large CPG companies to start-ups to get rapid feedback on new product concepts, packaging, pricing or marketing campaigns at a fraction of the cost of traditional market research, says the boss of one leading analytics firm.

So let’s say you want feedback on potential line extensions.

And while online tools like this will never entirely replace traditional market research or focus groups, they can help firms narrow down options quickly and cheaply at the early stages of the product development process and double-check they are on the right track later on, without breaking the bank, added Dr Kaul.
