The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has lifted the suspension on a meat processing company that was linked to an outbreak of listeria.

CFIA said the corrective action plan submitted by Capital Packers Inc., showed the firm has adequate controls in place to meet federal food safety standards.

It added that operations will be subject to intensified monitoring to verify that corrective actions are being integrated into daily plant operations.

An investigation has also concluded that there are no additional potentially unsafe products in the marketplace, said the watchdog.

Capital Packers recalled Capital brand 300 gram ham sausages and Compliments brand 375 gram ham sausages last month after a positive sample was found on the sleeve of a uniform from a worker at the Edmonton, Alberta plant.
