Probiotic yogurt leader Dannon has committed another $30,000 to promoting healthy eating amongst school children as part of its program to improve childhood nutrition in communities where its facilities are located.
The company awarded the latest grant to the I.J. & Jeanne Wagner Jewish Community Center (JCC), which will use it to provide weekly nutritionist-developed cooking classes for pre-school and elementary school students, as well as weekly fitness classes for students ages 2-12.
Dannon said it set up the Next Generation Nutrition Grants program in 2006 with the goal of promoting childhood nutrition education in each of the four communities where its facilities are located. As part of the grant, Dannon contributes $30,000 to each of four non-profit organizations in Auglaize County, Ohio; Salt Lake Counties, Utah; Tarrant County, Texas; and Westchester County, N.Y., for programs that teach and nurture healthy eating habits among children.
