Heinz takes on MyPyramid corporate challenge

Heinz Company has announced that it is partnering with the United States Department of Agriculture’s MyPyramid: Corporate Challenge.

MyPyramid, which is the symbol and interactive food guidance system developed by the USDA, aims to encourage Americans to “get the most nutrition out of their calories” and “make smart choices from every food group”.

Heinz Chairman, president and CEO, William Johnson, said: “Our partnership with the USDA will supplement the many health and wellness initiatives underway at Heinz and promote MyPyramid consumer resources.”

Dr Brian Wansink, executive director for USDA's Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion, said: "The purpose of the 'Partnering with MyPyramid: Corporate Challenge' is to equip consumers with the information that they need to make smart decisions about eating more healthfully and being more physically active.”

Existing corporate challenge partners include The Grocery Manufacturers Association and Food Marketing Institute.
