Mayor Rahm Emanuel cut the ribbon to officially open the new corporate headquarters for SPINS, a move that gives the company greater access to top talent to continue its impressive growth.

“SPINS is at the center of many of today’s hottest growth sectors, including Big Data, health, sustainability and digital technology,” said Tony Olson, CEO and owner of SPINS LLC. “Being located in Chicago provides us with greater access to top talent as we continue to accelerate growth and add new employees and capabilities.”

The company, a leading information and service provider for the natural and specialty products industry, is relocating 150 employees to the Windy City, with an addition 100 new jobs planned over the next year.

“We couldn’t be prouder for SPINS to call Chicago home,” said Mayor Emanuel during a press conference. “When a company that started out west in San Francisco sees a stronger, brighter, and better future in the Midwest, it speaks to what’s going on in the wider tech industry. That SPINS is bringing 250 jobs and its corporate headquarters to Chicago shows the energy and innovation in this city. From ConAgra to Oscar Meyer to ADM, we’re seeing Chicago as the epicenter for the food industry.”

The move further establishes Chicago’s growing strategic role in the health, sustainability, and technology sectors, said the company in a press release.

“SPINS brings together the food, technology, and health/sustainability sectors, all of which are thriving in Chicago,” added Jeff Malehorn, World Business Chicago President & CEO. “Chicago is an ideal location for the next phase of SPINS' growth and we look forward to continuing to work together in the years to come.”

The company’s new 22,000 square foot HQ is a LEED-certified brick and timber office space in Chicago.
