Watson, who has 25 years’ experience under his belt in the food ingredients industry with a string of high-profile positions at companies including ABF Ingredients, Cargill and Protient, starts work for Solbar on June 1.
His appointment is part of Solbar’s strategy to strengthen its position in the US market and follows its acquisition of a new processing plant to produce soy protein isolates in Nebraska last year from Green Planet Farms. The plant uses an eco-friendly process that separates protein from oil without using chemicals.
Solbar chief executive Shaul Shelach said: “Todd’s vast experience and capabilities will augment Solbar’s ability to work closely with our customers, and help sustain our mission to become the preferred partner in creating healthier products with our isolated soy protein ingredients.”
Solbar makes a wide range of soy protein concentrates and soy isolates for meat, vegetarian, health food, nutritional bar, snacks and beverage applications.
