A US meat company has recalled more than 450 tons of ground beef over fears it could be infected with E.coli 0157:H7.
Valley Meat Co, of Modesto, California issued the alert in connection with 454 tons of frozen beef patties and bulk ground beef products, said the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The body said it was made aware of the problem on July 15 after receiving notification from the Californian Department of Public Health (CDPH) about a small cluster of E.coli illnesses all from the same rare strain. Seven cases were eventually reported between February and 18 June.
The agencies said investigations are on-going.
