The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded $1,666,000 to the Organic Trade Association (OTA) for projects that tackle trade issues for organic products.
The funding is to be spent over five years in partnership with Sustainable Strategies.
OTA’s executive director Christine Bushway said: “This funding will be used to help further understand hurdles that impede the trade of US organic products and help work toward finding solutions to opening trade options for US organic producers.”
The USDA has said it will provide $220,000 of funding to the program in its first year.
