Starbucks-owned brand Evolution Fresh is test marketing a new range of co-branded smoothies made with cold pressed, high pressure processed juice and Dannon Greek yogurt in 200 Starbucks stores in San Jose and St Louis.

Michael Neuwirth, senior director of public relations at Dannon, told FoodNavigator-USA: “Our partnership began last year with Dannon Greek yogurt being supplied to Starbucks for their existing parfait, and beginning June 24 Starbucks will pilot an Evolution Fresh smoothie test with Dannon Greek yogurt in nearly 200 Starbucks stores in San Jose and St. Louis.

“These smoothies will be branded Evolution Fresh Cold-Pressed Juice Smoothie inspired by Dannon. We are also planning for the coordinated national launch of Evolution Fresh Inspired by Dannon packaged line in 2015 in both Starbucks and grocery channels nationwide.”

The first products to hit stores are:

•             Sweet Greens: A fruit and vegetable-based cold-pressed juice smoothie with a hint of mango and banana

•             Strawberry: A cold-pressed juice smoothie with a hint of apple and banana

•             Mango Carrot: A fruit and vegetable-based cold-pressed juice smoothie with a hint of pineapple

The 16oz smoothies, which contain no artificial colors or flavors, have between 170 and 230 calories.
