China authorises Mexican pork imports
Mexican Foreign Secretary Patricia Espinosa announced the deal at the end of the fifth meeting of the China-Mexico Permanent Binational Commission in Beijing last week, saying: "We have received a formal document from Chancellor Yang Jiechi that certifies which companies can export pigmeat to China.”
She added that she was optimistic about the date of the first shipment. "Chancellor Yang told us that, on our next visit, he will serve us Mexican pork along with Chinese cuisine," Espinosa said.
However, according to Mexican website Mundo Ejecutivo, government sources said that as China requests two export certificates, pork shipments might be delayed “by three to six months”.
