Saputo heralds Morningstar deal as 'big' US growth opportunity
The last big deal of the year came in early December when Canadian dairy processor Saputo announced a $1.45bn deal to buy Dean Foods’ Morningstar division to help expand its presence in the United States.
Morningstar Foods – not to be confused with Morningstar Farms, which makes vegetarian food – makes Friendship cottage cheese and various private-label dairy products like coffee creamers and ice cream mix.
