Why are more Germans switching to a vegetarian diet?
Why are more Germans switching to a vegetarian diet? If it used to be for health reasons, it's increasingly for ethical reasons - from caring about animals to worrying about the environment, said Dr Markus Keller from the Institute of Alternative and Sustainable Nutrition, in Germany.
"The average German vegetarian is female, young, educated and lives in a major city."
Around 8% of people in Germany now self-report as vegetarians or vegans, compared to around 1% 30 years ago, he said.
