Great Grains digestive blend incorporates hardy probiotics
Post Foods is hoping to tap into the nine out of 10 Americans who aren’t getting enough fiber in their diets with its Great Grains Digestive Blend cereal, which incorporates active cultures in addition to whole grains and fiber. Available in Berry Medley and Vanilla Graham, the Digestive Blends cereals both contain 7 g fiber in a one-cup serving as well as more than 41 g whole grain.
The cereal is formulated with an ultra-resilient probiotic, GanedenBC30, from Ohio-based probiotic pioneer Ganeden, which has a unique ability to withstand extremes of temperature and harsh processing techniques. BC30 is a spore-forming bacterium, meaning that inside the bacterial cell is a hardened, seed-like spore. This safeguards the cell’s genetic material from the heat and pressure of manufacturing processes, making it ideal for a range of applications, such as baked products, beverages, soup mixes, prepared foods and yes, cereals.
