Bitsy’s Brainfood aims to make ‘smart’ eating fun for kids
Bitsy’s Brainfood launched a line of organic fruit and vegetable cereals built around its core principles, that healthy bodies and healthy minds are connected, and learning to “eat smart” should be fun.
The three varieties—Fruit & Veggie 1,2,3, Carrot Raisin Crunch, and Banana Squash Squares—are all made from organic ingredients and real fruits and veggies, and packaged to be educational and fun. Bitsy’s cereals contain 12 essential vitamins and minerals to support healthy development, plus zinc, which it says helps brain and body cells to develop and grow; iron, which can help deliver oxygen to the brain and body; and vitamin B12, which can help support the nervous system and brain function. The cereal boxes feature brain games for kids, and the website teaches them about nutrition and how to eat smart with interactive games and characters.
Founded by two moms, Alexandra Buckley Voris and Maggie Jones Patton, Bitsy’s Brainfood cereals are available in retailers throughout the US and at major online retailers for a suggested retail price of $4.99- $5.99.
Cereal is a mainstay category of the $23 bn children’s food and beverage market. As a recent Packaged Facts report found, taste alone isn’t sufficient to qualify a product as being for kids. The product must meet at least one other criterion: nutrition or entertainment.
