PHIL LAPP, co-founder, Neat Foods: ‘Even the Superbowl had vegetarian options this year’
“Right now these products [meat-alternatives] are considered niche, but look how quickly things are changing,” says Neat Foods co-founder Phil Lapp. “Even the Superbowl had vegetarian options this year.”
The idea for Neat Foods struck Lapp back in 2011 when his nine-year-old daughter Morgan wolfed down some home-made meat-free tacos and remarked: “This isn’t meat… this is neat”.
Within minutes, Lapp’s entrepreneurial juices started flowing, and a year later, he and his wife Laura co-founded Neat Foods.
To prepare Neat products - which are stocked in the ambient aisles and packed with garbanzo beans and pecan nuts - shoppers open a pack, add water and two eggs, and throw the mix into a skillet, just like ground beef.
