Dannon debuts Oikos Greek frozen yogurt
The Greek yogurt trend continues to crop up in the freezer aisle, as Dannon debuted a frozen version of its Oikos Greek yogurt brand.
White Plains, NY-based Dannon is selling the frozen treat in six flavors: chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, black cherry, key lime, and café latte. Oikos Greek Frozen Yogurt contains half the fat of regular ice cream and 6 grams of protein per serving. The product also contains active yogurt cultures and is an “excellent” source of calcium, Dannon says.
The launch comes on the heels of rival Chobani’s announcement of global expansion plans and a possible IPO.
It seems that the Greek yogurt craze has nowhere to go but up, accounting for 44% of yogurt sales in 2013. Chobani still leads the market in sales, for the time being, despite a slew of new Greek yogurt launches backed by heavy ad spending from the competition.
