EPIC Bar: Welcome to the meat snacking revolution
Another firm tapping into the whole Paleo trend is meat-snacks pioneer EPIC Bar, which co-founder and CEO Taylor Collins claims is one of the fastest-growing snack bar companies in the US.
The company, which makes bars with beef, bison, lamb, liver and turkey, plus a Hunter Gatherer range of jerky, fruits and nuts; has recently developed EPIC 'bites', which are set to be a big hit based on early feedback, according to Collins.
While EPIC products sometimes sit in the jerky set, sometimes in the nutrition bars category and sometimes on their own in standalone displays; in future they will sit in an emerging meat snacks set, or better still, a "protein set", he told FoodNavigator-USA.
"Other protein bars often use soy or whey protein isolates and then add syrups and sweeteners to offset the chalky flavor of these powders, whereas we are easier to digest, minimally processed, and we don't have all the sugar and carbs."
