Free recycling drives foot traffic
MOM’s provides a variety of free recycling programs that give consumers another reason to visit the store.
“We are very confident in the products we sell … but sometimes [grocery shopping] is just a chore. So we looked at what else can drive our consumers to MOM’s Organic Market” instead of a competitor, Egland-Smith said. One way is to offer recycling for shoes, batteries, electronics, cork and other materials.
The annual electronic recycling drive is wildly successful, she said, noting last year MOM’s collected 92,000 pounds of electronics, up from 50,000 pounds the year before.
