Old Trapper sticks to its old ways
The evolution of the meat snack category has shifted away from adding nitrates and other preservatives, but Old Trapper eschews the trend and will continue to add nitrates to its meat snacks for better quality control, said Paul Bilton-Smith, a sales and marketing representative for the firm. He also predicts that the increasing prevalence of chicken jerky is a fad that won’t last because there is too much competition from food service for fast chicken snacks. Rather, he said, the core jerky consumer still wants all beef, old fashioned flavored products that are tried and true – like those Old Trapper offers.
