Runa co-founder Dan MacCombie heading for pastures new
From here we head to Brooklyn-based Runa, a functional beverage company on a mission to build a ‘clean energy’ platform based on guayusa, an Amazonian leaf that naturally contains caffeine.
The Brooklyn-based business - co-founded by Dan McCombie and Tyler Gage - uses the guayusa leaf as the cornerstone of a range of branded loose teas and infusions, ready-to-drink teas and carbonated energy drinks that are now available in 8,000+ stores nationwide.
However, after six and a half years with Runa, McCombie told BevNET that it was time to move on, although he will remain on the company’s board and continue to work in “something between a part-time and advisory role,” for a day or two a month for the rest of the year.
