Student teams present bug-based creations
Six student teams from five universities around the world presented their bug-based creations and business plans at the IFT Annual Meeting and Food Expo in Chicago in July as part of this year’s Developing Solutions for Developing Countries competition. The products, which ranged from cricket cookies, silkworm stew and meal marmalade, were selected as winners out of 59 applications of insect-based food solutions, explained competition judge Hugh Welsh, president of DSM North America.
