Next we caught up with Chuck Casano, co-founder of Pitaya Plus, which is seeking to make the hot pink pitaya fruit a household name in the US.
Forecasting is by far the toughest part of running Pitaya Plus. We need to purchase 12 months of supply while our harvest is only four to five months. We are growing so fast and trying to predict sales and purchase inventory for a full year is never easy.
My current pet-peeve is the fact that so many people don’t know that by default an USDA Organic Certification means that the product is non-GMO. You cannot be USDA Organic and contain GMOs. I wish more people would understand that so organic companies didn’t have to waste time/money on a Non-GMO Certification.
