Krik Angacion, ProFormance Foods: We'd like to see more outside investment in early stage food companies
Next we spoke to Krik Angacion, co-founder of protein-packed snacks brand ProTings.
What keeps you awake at night?
For the longest time it was about survival for us as we were never a financed business. We concentrated on non-slotting fee business with cash up front orders. This was primarily smaller regional distributors and international buyers. These channels remain strong for us and as a result we're exploring mass market opportunities.
We'd like to see more outside investment [in early stage food companies]. There are countless funds for startup tech companies but from what I've seen less than five in the food industry. The only funds out there are for $2m+ sales companies, which is frustrating for companies that are below that threshold but need the capital to get to that next level of business
What trends are you tracking?
We constantly monitor anything to do with protein.
