An ingredient designed to combat listeria in meat will feature among the range of ingredients Corbion aims to showcase at July's IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo in Chicago.

The company will display two solutions for the meat industry at the US trade show which runs from 16-19 July.

Verdad Avanta and OptiForm are the two products meat processors will be most interested in. The latter is what Corbion calls an “industry-leading” solution which ensures listeria control for meat and poultry products. Verdad Avanta is a multifunctional biobased ingredient that can improve quality, taste and product shelf-life in processed meat products.

Ruud Peerbooms, senior vice-president of food at Corbion, said technical experts would be “happy” to discuss any concerns customers might have about using Corbion ingredients in their meat products.

Customers turn to Corbion for innovative solutions and for expertise – they trust us to answer formulation and other questions,” said Peerbooms in a press statement. “Our team works hand-in-hand with customers to make their products cleaner, safer, fresher and tastier.”

The vice-president of food also said the IFT trade show was the “perfect place to meet customers who are hungry for information”.

Visitors to Corbion’s booth at IFT (Booth 1,221) will be able to sample turkey, ham and sausages that have been treated with the functional ingredients.
