US-based Package Concepts & Materials will add a large production facility to its South Carolina factory, creating up 30 new jobs.

The business manufactures nettings and casings for cooked meat and poultry products, such as smoked hams, in the US.

Its $3m investment will create a 30,000sq ft production facility at its Greenville, South Carolina site. The expansion to the existing facility is expected to be complete in the summer of 2017.

The investment will help increase production of the company’s spiced net-casing and cook-in casings. The business said some $2.5m of the investment will be spent on a seven-ply extrusion system, which it hopes will increase its cook-in casing production capacity by more than a fifth.

Package Concepts & Materials, formed in 1980, claims to be a leading manufacturer of “net-casings and non-oriented plastic casings”, which are used for commercially cooking processed meat and poultry.
