Many consumers are asking more detailed questions about how 'natural flavors' are made, but it can be "very hard to get a straight answer," said VeganFlavors founder Marc Jacob, who said flavoring constituents from meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, or dairy products are permitted in natural flavors, and often serve a technical function (to clarify or deflocculate, for example).
