Dr Peter Lurie to succeed Dr Michael Jacobson at helm of CSPI
Michael F. Jacobson, PhD, who co-founded nonprofit nutrition and food-safety watchdog the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) in 1971, will be replaced as president and executive director by Dr. Peter G. Lurie, who was most recently the associate commissioner for public health strategy and analysis at the FDA.
As part of the transition, CSPI’s director of nutrition policy, Margo G. Wootan, has been promoted to the new position of vice president for nutrition.
