San Diego-based Chosen Foods' flagship products—100% Pure Avocado Oil, Chosen Blend Oil, and four Avocado Oil Mayo flavors—have been certified ‘Glyphosate Residue Free’ from The Detox Project.

The certification also extended to Chosen Foods’ Coconut Oil Mayo, Organic Chia Seeds, and Organic White Quinoa.

“This certification furthers our mission to be transparent about our sourcing process while bringing awareness to the use of pesticides and its detrimental effects on our health and the environment,” said Natalie Morse, Director of Marketing and Product Development at Chosen Foods.

The company’s announcement came during a time of heightened concern over glyphosate after California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced it would add the herbicide chemical to its Proposition 65 list, which means companies with products containing residue might have to feature warning labels [the safe harbor level has yet to be finalized].

“By becoming Certified Glyphosate Residue Free, we’re able to show our customers that we are committed to ingredient integrity and safety,” Morse added.
