The website, farmers.gov, has a list of tools and information to help agriculture producers identify the right programs and make decisions to rebuild their operations.
The site will feature a portal for secure business transactions, a disaster assistance discovery tool and a blog, as well as many other resources.
The discovery tool walks producers through five questions to help them identify personalised results of what USDA disaster assistance programs meet their needs.
The portal is the first edition of a secure dashboard for producers to manage program applications and other USDA documents.
The blog will enable producers to read stories from other farmers and how they address challenges associated with natural disasters.
This is the second supportive act made by USDA to farmers affected by natural disasters after putting forward $2m towards a relief program.
“USDA’s vision for farmers.gov is to provide farmers, ranchers and foresters with online self-service applications, educational materials, engagement opportunities and business tools,” said USDA’s agriculture secretary Sonny Perdue.
“Our goal is to provide America’s farmers with the best customer service, and this website is one of many ways we’re working to do so.”
Natural disasters have significantly affected the US cattle industry in 2018 with, among others, the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture revealing that wildfires had spread across 320,000 acres of land and killed 1,100 cows.
