Soaring demand has prompted Impossible Foods to accelerate the roll-out of its gluten-free Impossible Burger 2.0 to 200 restaurants nationwide this week.

Following its launch earlier this month at the International Consumer Electronics show in Las Vegas, US, the Impossible Burger 2.0 has been available in just 20 American restaurants and has experienced strong demand.

From 4 February, the gluten-free burger will be served in restaurants such as The Counter, Bareburger, Hopdoddy and Umami nationwide and will later be available to the whole US restaurant industry through major food distributors.

The gluten-free version of its Impossible Burger contains no animal hormones or antibiotics and is kosher- and halal-certified. It has 0mg of cholesterol, 14g of total fat and 240 calories in a quarter-pound patty.

Impossible Foods’ chief operating officer David Lee said the company had been “blown away” by the positive response since the launch of the burger’s new recipe.

“Our long-time restaurant partners are asking to get it as quickly as possible – and we’re thrilled they can get this exclusive opportunity,” said Lee.

Impossible Foods also revealed earlier this month that its 2.0 burger will be listed at grocery stores later this year.

On a global scale, the company plans to launch the gluten-free burger into Singapore later this year, with additional markets to come.
