Meat giant JBS rolls out plant-based offerings under the OZO brand
Meat giant JBS is making a big push into the plant-based meat arena via a new subsidiary – Boulder, CO-based Planterra Foods – which is rolling out to grocery stores across the US with refrigerated burgers and grounds under the OZO brand.
Made with textured pea protein, wheat gluten, and MycoTechnology’s pea and rice protein fermented by Shiitake mycelia (the roots of Shiitake mushrooms), the soy-free OZO product line has less saturated fat and fewer calories than rival offerings, claims Planterra Foods.
