Austin based World Peas – best known for its coated peas and fava bean snacks, has been acquired by L.A. based Snack it Forward LLC - which makes freeze-dried fruit snacks (Sunkist Fruit Chips) and trail mix.

“The addition of World Peas to our snacking portfolio strengthens our healthy snacking positioning, opens up exciting new ingredient sourcing channels and gives us a stake in the rapidly growing legume snack segment," said Snack it Forward CEO Nick Desai.

"We are especially excited about the new distribution channels that the World Peas brand opens up for us to efficiently leverage for our existing and future brands."

Following the deal, World Peas founder Anish Sheth – who founded the company in 2011 and has since secured listings for his snacks at Whole Foods, Target, The Fresh Market, Costco and Thrive Market - will join Snack it Forward as president of pulse snacks, while World Peas will operate within the Snack it Forward HQ in Los Angeles, California.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
