DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Co unveils all-natural alternative to propylene glycol and glycerin

DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products unveils natural solvent
Joint venture DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products Company has launched Zemea USP Propanediol, a natural solvent and humectant that can be used to replace petroleum-based propylene glycol or glycerin in multiple food and beverage applications.

The JV’s first ingredient for the US food market Zemea USP is made from corn sugar via a fermentation process and boasts unique humectancy, preservative effects, solubility and taste properties.

Made in Loudon, Tenn, Zemea USP is certified Kosher and Halal certified and has received a letter of no-objections from the FDA for its self-affirmed GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status. It is also certified GRAS by the Flavor & Extracts Manufacturers Association (FEMA).

DuPont Tate & Lyle is currently looking for partners in the food industry who are interested in evaluating Zemea USP.

DuPont Tate and Lyle Bio Products is a joint venture between DuPont and Tate & Lyle.

NEED to Clearly Label this for the Corn Allergic!

Posted by BB,

This is wonderful, except for people with corn allergies like my four-year-old who can't even touch corn products, much less ingest them, without a painful skin--or worse--reaction. Corn allergies are more common than people realize, despite the FDA failing to recognize it. PLEASE at least LABEL Corn Derived wherever this product will be used. Without clear labeling, corn allergy sufferers' lives are in danger!
